Best Headache Specialist in Santa Monica, CA

There is a wellness studio on nearly every block here, and still no simple way to see a doctor who actually treats migraine. Haven does, by video, usually within a few weeks.

When Wellness Culture Is Not Enough for Migraine

You have tried the cold plunge, the magnesium, the better sleep app. Helpful, maybe. But migraine is a neurological disease, and sometimes it takes a clinician who treats it for a living. That is who you meet at Haven.

Why Santa Monica Needs a Virtual Headache Specialist

Santa Monica runs hot. Startups along the Silicon Beach strip, agencies, post houses, all of it rewards long screen days and late nights, often capped with a drink at an industry thing. Bright light, broken sleep, alcohol, stress. If you set out to design conditions for migraine, you would land on roughly this.

Good hospitals sit close by. A headache specialist who can see you soon is another story. Demand for the subspecialty runs well past the few clinicians who practice it, so even with UCLA nearby a first appointment can be months out. Then you have to get there, which on the Westside means the 405 and a parking structure, both rough when light and motion already make your head worse. People with commercial insurance wait around 50 days on average for that first neurology visit.

Haven skips the whole ordeal. You meet your specialist over video, usually within a few weeks, from wherever you are in Santa Monica. Most patients here come in on a tech or studio PPO plan we are in-network with. If you later need Botox or a nerve block, we arrange it with a trusted Westside provider.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if it is time to see a headache specialist?

If you are pushing through attacks with coffee, screens, and willpower, and they keep winning, it is time. Lifestyle habits can help around the edges. They rarely fix migraine on their own.

What types of headache does Haven treat?

Whether this is your first specialist appointment or a second opinion on a diagnosis you already have, Haven can help. Common conditions we treat include:

  • Migraine with or without aura
  • Vestibular migraine
  • Post-concussion headache
  • Cluster headache
  • Menstrual migraine
  • Long COVID headache
  • New daily persistent headache
  • Tension-type headache

What treatment options does Haven offer?

Haven specialists use current research and a comprehensive range of evidence-based treatments for headache and migraine. Care includes virtual specialist visits, IV care, preventive injections, and proactive day-to-day support. Your plan may include prescription medication, preventive injections, or nerve blocks when appropriate.

Do you cover Santa Monica and the rest of the Westside?

Yes. Because care is virtual, you can meet your specialist from Santa Monica, Venice, Mar Vista, Brentwood, or the Palisades. All you need is a phone or computer.

How much do visits cost?

If we are in-network with your PPO, EPO, Medicare, or TRICARE plan, normal cost-sharing like copays and deductibles applies. Haven is not in-network with most HMO plans. We also offer a cash-pay option for virtual visits, ranging from $224 to $374 depending on the length of the visit.

Do I qualify for care with Haven?

Haven is available to patients in California who are 18 or older. We are in-network with most major PPO, EPO, Medicare, and TRICARE plans in California, and we offer cash pay. We cannot accept Medicaid or Medi-Cal at this time.
